Aug 4, 2024 – Much of the important work of the Boone County Commission isn’t at the forefront of voters' minds—we just expect county government to be there, making sure our needs are met. One function of the county government that has been more visible, is the awarding of federal funds, like the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars that have been distributed to cities and counties across the nation. Along with her fellow commissioners, Janet Thompson has worked to distribute these funds to meet important needs throughout the County.

In the last few weeks, Janet and the Commission have awarded $180,000 in federal ARPA funding to the City of Centralia for park infrastructure repairs, $560,000 to Habitat for Humanity for construction of homes in the Boone Prairie Subdivision, $130,000 to Hallsville for water infrastructure improvements, $475,390 to Boone Health for Progressive Care Unit improvements, $230,000 to the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for workforce development, and more.
Let’s keep Janet working for us! Vote for Janet Thompson on August 6th and November 5th.
