Boone County is celebrating a financial win as new credit ratings from Moody’s Investor Service have significantly lowered the cost of borrowing money. With AA1 and AA2 ratings, the county can now secure lower interest rates on bonds and loans, which will immediately lower the cost of building the Regional Law Enforcement Training Center. This new facility, set to serve over 40 law enforcement agencies, will open in late 2025, making our community a hub for training and supporting law enforcement officials across mid-Missouri. The bond rating doesn’t just benefit the county. It also benefits YOU.
The county’s strong financial management and economic stability played key roles in earning the AA ratings and the cost savings will be passed down to taxpayers, all while improving infrastructure and public services. The bond ratings directly result from sound decision-making and transparent governance. In an era where government spending is so often criticized as inefficient, Boone County is showing how responsible financial management directly benefits the community. Not only will this impact the county's law enforcement training capabilities, but it also enhances overall public safety services. Janet Thompson has brought steady, consistent, and sound leadership to county government. She deserves reelection as Boone County Northern District Commissioner.
